OHS
- The latest OHS eNews - January 2025 features:
- New and updated resources available on the OHS Resource Portal
- Top OHS resources of 2024 were:
- Mental health in the workplace
- Now that December’s holiday festivities are over, some Albertans may find it difficult to maintain good mental health at this time of year. Diminished mental health can have serious negative effects both at home and in the workplace.
- OHS requires employers to assess and control all hazards in their workplace, including mental health hazards (more formally known as “psychosocial hazards”). To learn more, watch the two-part “Mental health in the workplace” webinar series, available on the OHS Resource Portal. Part 1 provides general information about psychological health and safety in the workplace, while Part 2 focuses on ways to identify, eliminate and control workplace psychosocial hazards. These and additional resources can also be accessed by visiting the Psychosocial hazards category on the OHS Resource Portal.
- Working in winter
- Working in extremely cold conditions can become especially hazardous, for example floors, steps, handholds and other surfaces can become slippery due to ice buildup, and objects that can be trip hazards are often hidden by snow or darkness. To learn more about how to protect yourself, check out the slips, trips and falls resources on the OHS Resource Portal.
