Greetings

Please review the applicable HSE Updates.

  • Company Safety Meeting Presentation:   due Fri 10 June 2022
    • If you have not already done so, please review the attached Company Safety Meeting and Employee training presentation and indicate that you have done so by replying to the email.
    • Even if you miss the deadline for meeting attendance, you are still required to review the Safety Meeting presentation(s) and indicate you have done so as they contain valuable training information.
  • May H&S Bulletin: Answer due by 8am Friday 24 June 2022
  • Health and Safety Committee:
    • If you can’t join the HSC meetings,  you can still participate by providing feedback, questions, or concerns to hsc@raeengineering.ca. Please submit feedback prior to the next meeting so it can be brought forward.
    • Next Meeting: Friday 10 June 2022 at 1pm via Teams
  • Hazard Reporting: Due by end of each month
    • Once a month, submit at least 1 hazard ID, incident, accident, or near miss to hazardreporting@raeengineering.ca to demonstrate your commitment to thinking about safety
    • Non-work-related incidents count as well, just indicate that it was not work-related in the subject.
  • Safety Rewards Program: Where your commitment to RAE’s Safety Culture is rewarded!
    • May winners: We only had one card and Brandon doesn’t work here anymore so it’s all Anita!
      • Best Safety Card ($500): Anita Vance
      • PRC Draw ($100): Anita Vance
    • If you have any questions or concerns about the Safety Rewards Program, or would like to sign-up to do a presentation, please email hsc@raeengineering.ca.
  • Peer Recognitions: Due by Company Safety Meeting each month
  • PPGs: There are now only 35 Mandatory PPGs (we have archived one which was determined to be superseded by a policy in the HSE Manual).
    • You can check your PPG status through REMS> RAE Docs Report> Search By Employee> tick the “Mandatory Documents Only” box, select your name, and click “Search”.
    • Click the “Completed Date” column header to quickly see if which (if any) mandatory PPGs are unread.

Fatigue

  • While Turnaround season is pushing oil and gas workers extra hard, please remember that fatigue is an impairment which may cause workers to be unfit for duty as it reduces the cognitive and physical abilities of workers.
    • If you are experiencing fatigue, you MUST inform your supervisor to develop a mitigation plan
  • If your workers are experiencing fatigue, coordinate with workers (and site contacts as applicable) to develop a mitigation plan which may include:
    • Ensuring Workers are getting enough rest between shifts (on average, people need at least 7-9 hours of sleep every day)
    • Ensuring Workers are receiving sufficient rest breaks during shifts
    • Providing workers with resources on how to improve their sleep
