NDE Technician - Edmonton / Grande Prairie

2 Positions Available - 1 in Edmonton and 1 in Grande Prairie  Job Purpose: The NDE Technician performs calibrations, non-destructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and records results.  The NDE Technician will set up and calibrate equipment, as well as interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications.  The NDE Technician is also responsible for organizing and reporting results of the non-destructive testing. Responsibilities:
  • Conducts tests to ensure quality or detect defects using ultrasonic, magnetic particle or liquid penetrant non-destructive testing methods
  • Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment
  • Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards
  • Evaluate results
  • Organize and report test results
  • Perform specialized inspections
  • Interface daily with client about work priorities and progress of projects
  • Actively participate in client programs
  • Work closely with client to identify and remove obstacles

Qualifications:
  • The following qualifications are preferred for NDE Technicians:
    • CGSB UT Level 1 or 2
    • CGSB MPI/LPI Level 2
  • 3 - 5 years of active and proven field inspection experience
Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform inspections, including setting up corrosion surveys, and interpreting results of found indications for all certified methods
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Ability to produce intricate and accurate isometric drawings of vessels, tanks and piping
  • Ability to produce reports to communicate status of assigned projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent planning and organizations skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Strong leadership abilities to assist with training new technicians
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills

API 653 Inspector - Edmonton Office

At RAE Engineering and Inspection, our focus is on determining and managing the integrity of pressure equipment, pressure piping, tanks, pipelines, and related mechanical equipment.  Our expertise in Codes and Standards, combined with our mechanical and materials engineering background, enables our clients to design, construct and operate safely and efficiently, while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies. The overall duty of this position is to ensure, with the use of examination and verification processes, that the end product meets the requirements of client specifications, public safety acts and industry regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform internal and external inspections in accordance with a specific code, standard, or document
  • Responsible for following up on Action items and other recommendations that they have written to ensure completion of that inspection job.
  • Responsible for obtaining all relevant client asset data including PSV information.
  • Work with client to ensure correct installation of equipment and subsequent installation inspections.
  • Assist in the audit process of client’s sub-contractors. Assist with internal audits (as per client manual).Assist with legislative client program audits.
  • Know of and being able to run with client PEIM/Tank Integrity Management programs.
  • Assist technical assistants with information gathering in order to keep Provincial regulators and client data up to date.
  • Maintain good relationships with legal authorities. Inspectors also have the responsibility to actively help in the reviewing and bettering of company inspection policies/procedures/guidelines if and when necessary.
  • Inspectors are actively promoted to gain experience and seniority in all aspects of inspection projects in order to work towards becoming Chief Inspectors.
  • Inspectors can be expected to take the lead on inspection projects as experience is gained.
  • This can include all aspects of managing such projects through proper manpower allocations, budgets, client meetings and proper reporting
  • Be actively involved in building a strong company inspector program and assist with the mentoring of junior inspectors

Office Manager - Grande Prairie

Job Purpose: The Office Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing all office functions, administrative support, safety compliance, and office services for the branch. Administrative responsibility includes coordinating and communicating field and office activities, reception duties, supplies and stationery, health regulations and general troubleshooting.  The Office Manager is also responsible for the safety requirements of the branch facilities and assets.  It is expected that some focus for this position will be on the development of the Branch. The Office Manager may also perform chargeable work within the technical capabilities of that individual from time to time as necessary.   Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise branch inspection staff (except for Lifting Equipment staff) and preparing work schedules
  • In consultation with the Safety Coordinator monitor branch staff to ensure adherence to RAE Engineering safety and loss management policies and procedures. Communicate and enforce the organization’s safety policies with Branch personnel (including Lifting Equipment staff).
  • Guide activities and staff to meet the technical requirements of projects while maximizing the utilization of resources in a timely manner and at the same time providing the highest quality product
