HSE Updates Week of 8 March 2023 – RAE, ESC, MHCC, OHS, ECS, SiteDocs

Greetings,

 

Please review the applicable HSE Updates.

 

  • Company Safety Meeting Presentation:   was due Fri 10 March 2023
    • If you have not already done so by the deadline, please review the attached Company Safety Meeting on SiteDocs to indicate you have reviewed it. If the deadline has passed – you missed it.
  • March H&S Bulletin: Answer due by 8am Friday 31 March 2023
  • Health and Safety Committee: Next Meeting: Thursday 30 March 2023 at 1pm
    • If you can’t join the HSC meetings,  you can still participate by providing feedback, questions, or concerns to hsc@raeengineering.ca. Please submit feedback prior to the next meeting so it can be brought forward.
    • The HSC meets the last Thursday of each month at 1pm via Teams
    • HSC Meeting Minutes can be found in the Teams Channel and SiteDocs
  • Hazard Reporting: Due by end of each month
    • Once a month, submit at least 1 hazard ID, incident, accident, or near miss to hazardreporting@raeengineering.ca to demonstrate your commitment to thinking about safety
    • Non-work-related incidents count as well, just indicate that it was not work-related in the subject.
  • Safety Rewards Program: Where your commitment to RAE’s Safety Culture is rewarded!
    • January PRC winners:

  • Peer Recognitions: Due by Company Safety Meeting each month
  • 2023 HSE Manual Knowledge Check:
    • RAE Contractors will be expected to complete the 2023 Knowledge Check after contract negotiations for the 2023 year.
  • Client Orientations:
    • With a new year, many clients are updating their orientations. A master list of client orientations made known to RAE Safety are compiled in Acumatica Doc RAE000020-Client Site Requirements and Orientations Tracker which is updated as orientations are made known.

Energy Safety Canada (ESC)

  • ESC has released a safety alert:  Storage Tank Becomes Brittle and Cracks
    • A visual inspection revealed a flaw in the construction material of a storage tank. Collaborative work between client and vendor could help in preventing these types of events.
  • On Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 am, clocks across most of Canada will turn forward one hour to observe Daylight Saving Time. The “loss” of this hour has real impacts.

Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC)

  • MHCC has issued their latest edition of The Catalyst which features:
    • Weaving Through the Challenges: The ABCs of finding paths to ACB mental health care.
      • When seeking a therapist, consider what sort of therapist will be the best fit for you. For example, a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) approach may be beneficial.
    • Pace, Plan, and Prioritize: One Woman’s Story on Coping with Long Covid: Since there’s no cure, those affected must work to manage their symptoms. An innovative hospital program takes an interdisciplinary approach encompassing physical, cognitive, and psychosocial care.
    • Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Dil Ba Dil (heart to heart) is one of several support programs for newcomers. It is part of ABRAR Trauma and Mental Health’s approach to complex and culturally informed care.
    • Shifting the Narrative: Valuing lived and living experience.

 

OHS

 

ECS Safety Services Ltd

  • ECS is happy to announce that they will now be offering Fit Testing for Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs) to help their clients meet new OHS Code Part 16 requirements

 

SiteDocs

  • SiteDocs has issued a reminder (see attached: Customize Your App Menus with Folders) about some of the great features available in app such as Requesting Signatures!
    • This feature is perfect for monthly worksite inspection forms which need to be signed-off by branch managers or making sure everyone signs off on FLRAs, company safety meetings, etc.
