HSE Updates Week of 18 December 2024 – RAE, ESC, OHS, ACSA

Please review the applicable HSE Updates.

• Company Safety Meeting Presentation:   deadline: second Friday of each month for the previous month
  • It is mandatory to review the Company Safety Meeting on SiteDocs and sign-off that you have done so. If the deadline has passed – you missed it but are still expected to review and sign-off the presentation in SiteDocs.
• H&S Bulletin: Answer due by 8am last Friday of the month
  • See attached: December 2024 Health and Safety Bulletin
• Health and Safety Committee: Next Meeting: usually Thurs before last Fri of the month
  • If you can’t join the HSC meetings,  you can still participate by providing feedback, questions, or concerns to hsc@raeengineering.ca. Please submit feedback prior to the next meeting so it can be brought forward.
  • The HSC meets the last Thursday of each month at 1pm via Teams
    • Due to December holidays, the next meeting will be Thurs 30 January 2025
  • Previous HSC Meeting Minutes can be found in the Teams Channel, attached, and on SiteDocs
• Safety Rewards Program: Where your commitment to RAE’s Safety Culture is rewarded!

Energy Safety Canada (ESC)

• ESC has released their Issue 11-2024-Safety-Bulletin-Winterization-for-Process-Safety which provides important strategies and considerations for incorporating winterization into process safety management.

OHS

OHS has issued OHS eNews – December 2024 – OHS Code changes special edition 

• • On December 4, 2024, Alberta’s government updated Part 27: Violence and Harassment, Part 33: Explosives, and Part 37: Oil and Gas Wells, and also made miscellaneous editorial amendments across the OHS Code. During a transitional period between December 4, 2024 and March 30, 2025, work site parties can comply with either the updated provisions or the prior provisions. Starting on March 31, 2025, work site parties will need to comply with the updated provisions.

ACSA

• ACSA has issued Your ACSA Update – December 2024 Edition which includes:
  • ACSA offices will be closed for the holidays from Tuesday, December 24, to Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
  • My Portal updates for 2025: ACSA is building a new Learning Management System (LMS) called MyLearning, adding to the suite of ACSA Connect Tools. To get ready, please take a few minutes and update your profile in MyPortal. Make sure your email address, mailing address, and phone number are correct.
  • Fleet Safety Management (vILT): This year, your ACSA launched a new course: Fleet Safety Management (FSM). For our members who drive to work sites and transport machinery, materials or equipment, FSM is specially designed to equip you with fleet safety best practices and knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations. Register now for upcoming FSM classes.
  • OHS eNews: Workplace winter readiness – As temperatures drop and snow arrives, following good occupational health and safety practices for the winter months is important. Subscribe to the Government of Alberta’s OHS eNews for the most up-to-date information and resources on occupational health and safety (OHS).
