OHS
- In their latest issue, OHS eNews – December 2024, highlights include:
- OHS Resource Portal including the following updated posters:
- The first week of December is National Safe Driving Week. With roads becoming more slippery and holiday parties starting to get into full swing, it’s particularly important for workers to follow safe driving practices and avoid impairment when driving for work.
- More information on driving safety and impairment in the workplace is available on the OHS Resource Portal.
- As temperatures drop and snow arrives, it’s important to follow good occupational health and safety practices for the winter months. The colder weather can present many challenges and hazards, such as icy surfaces and an increased risk of slips, trips and falls. Addressing these hazards is a legal requirement and a vital part of maintaining a healthy and safe workplace.
- Free resources on the OHS Resource Portal provide information and guidance on keeping work sites healthy and safe in winter. These include strategies for managing weather-related hazards, best practices for maintaining a safe workplace, tips for proper footwear and more.
- The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has brought its new Business Safety Portal online. For a fee, businesses can use the portal to help protect their workers and meet their health and safety responsibilities.
- Access to the CCOHS Business Safety Portal starts at $100 annually. For more information, visit ccohs.ca/products/business-portal.
- The portal can help companies:
- get health and safety guidance specific to their industry and location,
- create policies and programs to run a healthy and safe business,
- stay up to date with health and safety training and legal responsibilities,
- access checklists to help identify and address concerns and hazards, and
- store important documents in one place for ready access during a government health and safety inspection.
