OHS
- OHS has issued their latest OHS eNews – November 2024 (attached) which features:
- New and updated OHS resources via the OHS Resources Portal, updated content includes:
- The Workers’ handbook on occupational health and safety is now available in print from the OHS Resource Portal.
- Domestic Violence in the Workplace: November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta. It is a time to increase awareness of the warning signs of family violence and the resources and supports available so we can work together to end family violence and build healthier relationships in our communities.
- Family violence is a type of domestic violence, and any type of domestic violence can be a workplace hazard. Under OHS legislation, when an employer becomes aware that a worker is or is likely to be exposed to domestic violence at a work site, the employer must take reasonable precautions to protect the worker and anyone else at the work site who’s likely to be affected. To learn more, see Domestic violence in the workplace on the OHS Resource Portal.
- For more information on Family Violence Prevention Month, visit alberta.ca/family-violence-prevention-month.
- Fall protection plan resource available on the OHS Portal
- Lithium batteries: Alberta’s OHS legislation doesn’t have any specific requirements regarding lithium batteries. However, employers, supervisors and workers still have certain legislated health and safety responsibilities that apply in relation to such batteries due to their hazardous nature. To learn more, see Lithium batteries on the OHS Resource Portal.
- Upcoming live webinars on employment standards: For more information, or to register for one of the sessions, please visit alberta.ca/employment-standards-webinars.aspx. To request a presentation for your company or organization, email EOP.Presentations@gov.ab.ca.
