HSE Updates Week of 13 March 2024 – RAE, TSBC, ESC

Greetings,

Please review the applicable HSE Updates.

  • Company Safety Meeting Presentation:   deadline: second Friday of each month for the previous month
    • If you have not already done so by the deadline, please review the attached Company Safety Meeting on SiteDocs to indicate you have reviewed it. If the deadline has passed – you missed it but are still expected to review and sign-off the presentation in SiteDocs.
  • H&S Bulletin: Answer usually due by 8am last Friday of the month (Thurs 28 March 2024 this month)
  • Health and Safety Committee: Next Meeting: usually Thurs before last Fri of the month (likely 21 March 2024 for March)
    • If you can’t join the HSC meetings,  you can still participate by providing feedback, questions, or concerns to hsc@raeengineering.ca. Please submit feedback prior to the next meeting so it can be brought forward.
    • The HSC meets the last Thursday of each month at 1pm via Teams
    • Previous HSC Meeting Minutes can be found in the Teams Channel and SiteDocs and attached.
  • Safety Rewards Program: Where your commitment to RAE’s Safety Culture is rewarded!
    • December 2023 PRC winners: Submit more cards! Be specific in how your coworkers are contributing to safety!

    • If you have any questions or concerns about the Safety Rewards Program, or would like to sign-up to do a presentation, please email hsc@raeengineering.ca.
  • Peer Recognitions: Due by Company Safety Meeting each month
  • Performance Reviews:
    • Performance reviews are coming up. Please ensure your certifications are in place and valid.
    • If you are a Supervisor, arrange time with your staff to perform Annual Assigned Equipment Checklists
    • Login to REMS to ensure you have read all mandatory PPGs
      • Reminder: You must indicate that you’ve read the 2024 HSE Manual in RFR.
        SiteDocs will not be cross-checked to monitor compliance. The manual currently exists in SiteDocs for reference purposes only.

 

Technical Safety BC (TSBC)

  • The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is now inviting public feedback on the draft of the next edition of the CSA B149 series.
    • Feedback is requested for the following:
      • CSA/ANSI B149.6-25 – Code for digester gas, landfill gas, and biogas generation and utilization. Consultation is open until March 16, 2024.
      • CSA B149.2-25 – Propane storage and handling code. Consultation is open until March 25, 2024.
      • CSA B149.1-25 – Natural gas and propane installation code. Consultation is open until April 29, 2024.
      • CSA B149.3-25 - Code for the field approval of fuel-burning appliances and equipment, including, as normative, Annex J Mobile outdoor food service unit. Consultation to be open shortly.
    • To comment on the CSA B149 code series, you will need to create an account with CSA Communities.

Energy Safety Canada (ESC)

  • ESC has issued ESC Safety Alert – Fingers Trapped by Winch Line
    • A two-person truck crew was loading equipment during a rig move. When lifting a rig mat onto the truck bed, one crew member’s fingers were trapped between the winch line and truck bed roller, causing serious injuries.
