    • New and updated OHS resources

      • World Mental Health Day is observed in Alberta and throughout the world each year on October 10. It’s a day to bring attention to the importance of mental health and raise awareness about the negative effects of mental illness.
      • Under Alberta’s occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation, employers are required to assess their work sites to identify existing and potential hazards, which in some cases may include mental health hazards (also known as “psychosocial hazards”). This requirement aligns with the stated purpose of the OHS Act, which is to promote and maintain “the highest degree of physical, psychological and social well-being of workers….”
      • Alberta OHS offers a number of information resources for employers, supervisors and workers regarding workplace psychosocial hazards. To access these resources (which include bulletins, posters, videos, and customizable templates), visit the Psychosocial hazards category on the OHS Resource Portal.
