The purpose of the British Columbia Safety Authority is to keep people safe. The Safety Authority mandates the safe installation and use of all kinds of technical equipment besides pressure vessels. They are a not-for-profit that administers safety standards through education, and through issuing permits and licences. They promote compliance to standards to ensure consistency and fairness, and conduct onsite inspections – particularly in high-risk situations. They continuously research trends to advance the standard of safe practices in the province of British Columbia.

The Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan delivers programs and inspection services to make the province of Saskatchewan a safe place to live, work and play, by ensuring the safe operation of boilers, pressure vessels, amusement rides and elevators. The Authority administers licensing and inspection programs related to these devices to ensure they are operated in accordance with safety standards set out in legislation and regulations.

The Department of Community Services section on the Yukon Government website includes the subsection "Building Safety" which inspects construction and trades-related activities to ensure that secure, sustainable structures and installations are completed and that safety codes applied during the course of building and installation meet the National minimum standards. The unit issues a variety of permits and licences to support interests that include: development; building; plumbing; electrical; boiler and pressure vessels; gas; and elevating devices.
